The Pikes Peak Workforce Center offers several training programs that provide financial assistance to eligible residents of El Paso and Teller counties for training or re-training, in demand occupation.
The amount of assistance is determined by program requirements and/or your Career Consultant and is based on your individual employment plan.
All programs listed below have the following general eligibility requirements:
- Must be U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must be a resident of El Paso or Teller County
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- If male born on or after January 1, 1960, must have registered for Selective Service
- Other requirements based on program grant
Adult Program:
- Must have financial need for tuition assistance but have means to manage personal expenses while in school
- Must need education or training to gain marketable skills or advance in career
- Must have demonstrated ability to maintain employment
- Education/ training program must be approved on Colorado Department of Labor’s Eligible Training List (see navigator.cdle.state.co.us).
- If currently enrolled in school, must be within 12 months of completing education/training program and have at least a 2.0 GPA
- If not attending school, education or training of interest must be a 12-month
program or shorter

Dislocated Workers:
- Residents who have been separated from their place of employment through no fault of their own (plant closure, layoff, military ETS) and desire to continue to live and work in the Pikes Peak region
- Education/training program must be approved on Colorado Department of Labor’s Eligible Training List (see navigator.cdle.state.co.us)

Career Advancement Account (CAA) Grant:
Training may be available in the following areas, ONLY: health care, finance, education, information technology, construction/specialty trades, human resources, hospitality, homeland security and business administration
- Military spouse must be the husband or wife of an active duty military member
- Military member must have at least one year remaining at current duty station participating in CAA program (Fort Carson, Peterson AFB, United States Air Force Academy, Schriever AFB, and Cheyenne Mountain Air Base)
- Spouse must have a high school diploma, GED, or some post-secondary education (but no post-secondary degree), OR have a post-secondary degree but need a CAA in order to obtain or retain a credential, certification, or license.
- The school must be accorded a regional or national accreditation by the U.S. Department of Education.

Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)/Relocation Grant:
- Spouse must be the husband or wife of an active duty member assigned to Fort Carson Army Post or Peterson Air Force Base
- Spouse must have lost a job at the military sponsor’s previous duty location in order to relocate with the military sponsor to Fort Carson on or after January 1, 2005.
- Spouse must be currently unemployed (or underemployed)

Women in Information Technology (WIT) Next class starts in February. Funding is limited so apply now!
The Women in Information Technology (IT) program is designed for military spouses from Fort Carson or Peterson AFB who have a sincere interest in the IT field. No prior experience is necessary. The program consists of an eight-month course through Pikes Peak Community College that covers IT Fundamentals, Software Fundamentals, Network Essentials, IT Security Essentials, and IT Support Essentials.
Spouse must be the husband or wife of an active duty member assigned to Fort Carson Army Post or Peterson Air Force Base
Spouse must have lost a job at the military sponsor’s previous duty location in order to relocate with the military sponsor to Fort Carson on or after January 1, 2005
Spouse must be currently unemployed (or underemployed)
